UK dance icon Kieran Hedben (Four Tet) and American guitar drone specialist William Tyler come back together for a new collaborative LP on Temporary Residence entitled 41 Longfield Street Late ‘80s. Despite the ocean separating them, Hebden and Tyler found common ground first as friends and musical admirers via the radio killing pop country of their youth as passed down from their fathers. That glittering and melodically rich tapestry provides the backbone for this LP of delicate finger-picking and cavernous musical filigree. The eleven minute opening suite-as-cover of Lyle Lovett’s ‘If I Had a Boat’ is a fitting thesis for a heady view of Americana as high (folk) art.
