Arcana Rising - 2024 UK Peaceville label 6-track LP

Norwegian Coffin Storm is a new band consisting of a trio of Kolbotn veterans, where Apollyon (Aura Noir/Lamented Souls) & Bestial Tormentor (Infernö/Lamented Souls) are complemented by Darkthrone's Fenriz on vocals. And then the first fruits of their work manifest in the form of the debut album 'Arcana Rising', with a solid mix of classic heavy metal, slow thrash and doom. The result is a stream of driving, accomplished titanic riffing, guided by Fenriz's unmistakable vocal skills, known from his own Isengard project and several Darkthrone releases, with vocal inspiration from bands such as Agent Steel.

'Arcana Rising' features six sprawling metallic epics covering its 45-minute runtime and was recorded in a variety of studios in the band's native Norway, where work originally began back in 2021. Production was overseen by Apollyon himself, and 'Arcana Rising' truly channels and encapsulates the spirit of the 80s with inspiration from such masters of metal as Candlemass, Pentagram, Metallica and early Kreator, with musical nods to early Paradise Lost & Cathedral from the more extreme side of the doom spectrum, as well as DNA traces of Apollyon & Bestial Tormentor's own previous work alongside their cult doom act Lamented Souls.

The mastering work was done by Jack Control at Enormous Door (Darkthrone) and the cover art was done by Polish artist Maciej Kamuda.
