The school-forming super-guitarist John Scofield has in recent years thrown himself into many musical challenges. He has played music by Ray Charles, he has tackled Southern funk, moved in the psychedelic landscapes, given his bid for new interpretations of country & western classics and much more while constantly writing new music. No, John Scofield is not for retainers!

A couple of years ago he went on a solo tour. It's not always interesting to hear an electric guitarist completely solo, so he was not completely alone - because in the suitcase were also some pedals that enabled him to play with himself. It goes like this: Press the button, play the harmonic backing, press the button again and place the hint of the theme above, and then play the solo over the two pre-recorded sequences. The tour was a great success with, among other things, several concerts in Denmark and it is the music that is now available on this release.

The repertoire is, as always, quite mixed, because Scofield is inspired by all the music he hears, just as he still digs back in time and finds his favorite songs that get the Scofield stamp. Standards, country & western ballads, own compositions and 50s hits fill this must-have release. The music picks up on all the best in John Scofield's musical expression; the individual, the bluesy, the masculine physical, the laid-back melodic and not least the challenging melody lines, where you sometimes feel like standing at the edge of a hillside with fear of falling into the depths, but are always saved at the last minute. This solo release is one of the most important in John Scofield's long career. Maybe that's why he's all alone.
