Journeyman - 2018 - European Reprise Label 12-track 2LP set

2018 Reprise/Warner label remastered reissue of laid back blues and rock guitar virtuosos eleventh solo studio album - the first album recorded after the superb 'Crossroads' compilation... which seemed to revitalize Clapton's carreer and bring back focus after spending the 80ies with a combination of declining sales, problems with his musical direction and a reduced audience. "Bad Love" and "Pretending" was released as singles - both reaching the No. 1 position on the United States Rock Charts.

Allmusic's Stephen Thomas Erlewine writes that Clapton's performance sounds more "... sounds more convincing than he has since the early '70s." Clapton's guitar playing is "...muscular and forceful, his singing is soulful and gritty. Furthermore, the songwriting is consistently strong, alternating between fine mainstream rock originals ("Pretending") and covers ("Before You Accuse Me," "Hound Dog")." Erlewine ends his review stating that 'Journeyman' is "... the best studio album he's released since Slowhand." 

The album is remastered and presented in a gatefold picture cover displaying the original 1988 artwork.
