Sutcliffe was a Scottish-born artist and musician - a friend of John Lennon whilst attending Liverpool College of Art and probably best known as the original bassist for the Beatles - often referred to as the "Fifth Beatle". Sutcliffe achieved a postgraduate scholarship after which he left The Beatles in July 1961 and enrolled at the Hamburg College of Art under the tutelage of Paolozzi. He died aged only 22 in 1962 andthis is 'a unique and personal tribute to an extraordinarily talented young man, from some of those that were closest to him - Astrid Kirchherr, Cynthia Lennon, Jurgen Vollmer & Paul McCartney.'*

Biography is packed with illustrations and photographs by Hamburg era Beatlers photographer Astrid Kirchherr - book measures 29.5 x 26.4 x 7.4 cm and is orange linen and ¼ leather bound with silk screened artwork in black and white. The book is number 150 of 2000 manufactured and signed by Kirchherr, Pauline Sutcliffe, Kay Williams.

The additional 11,2 x 18,5 cm 152 pages facsimile sketchbook is bound in paper-covered boards to closely match Stuart's original - both books held in a matt-laminated slipcase featuring two of Astrid Kirchherr's classic images of Stuart and The Beatles - very nice.
