rare 1971 UK Transatlantic Records 7-track vinyl LP - the 2nd and last album by Bob and Carole Peggs electric folk combo which features a blend of more psychedelic and experimental angled tracks.. like 'Mendle', 'The Gipsy', or 'House Carpenter' as well as the ones close to the traditonal ore - like 'The Dancing Song' or 'All The Good Times' - could easily have been an inspiration for Greg Weeks and The Espers on the II album.

Vinyl has the generic white company labels with centered boxed purple logo - purple rimprint/black centre print - machine stamped matrix information:

TRA 236 A-2U, mother/stamper 1G
TRA 236 B-2U, mother/stamper 1G
it is our firm belief that the the first pressing was manufactured from the 2nd master matrice - that no 1A/B master matrices was ever used in the manufactured of 'The Gipsy' album - we have never seen one, nor have we been able to track down information about a such - the A/B-2U matrix endings combined with the 1G mother/stamper information underlines that this is an extremely early pressing within the very first issue - between the first few hundred albums pressed.

vinyl is held in an - once - internally attached clear plastic pocket - fold-out picture cover with drawing by Bob Pegg in inner spread.

Condition: VG+ (Vinyl and Labels)/VG+ (Cover):
Vinyl is overall still lustrous and has a few light and not so light but altogether superficial and inaudible marks combined with light sleeve wear - labels has a single or two light spindlemarks and are graded close to perfect. Vinyl is overall straight graded VG+.

Vinyl plays better thank it looks though - a Little crack ling in some of the quieter or more noiseless passages is all - but with well defined instruments, fine dynamics and tone and well balanced volume.

Cover has a touch of upper front and a Little back ringwear - a very light degree of edge and opening wrinkling. The glue used to attach the clear stiff PVC sleeve to the inner spread has weakened and the pocket has gone loose leavinmg no other mark than inevitable glue residue. The poscket and inner spread are in otherwise extremely close to perfect condition - pocket still retains its styrofoan stripe.
Cover edges intact - as usual - Cover desplays a touch of edge- and corners wear. The inner pocket is present but is no longer attached to inner spread as the glue has lost its effect. Otherwise a very close to perfect inner spread - overall a very nice cover with only a series of marginal flaws - far from distracting or disturbing - cover is easily graded very nice VG+.
