180-Gram Virgin Vinyl Limited Edition Baden Powell was one of the most prominent and celebrated Brazilian guitarists and guitar composers of his time. He combined classical techniques with popular harmony and swing, and performed in many styles, including bossa nova, samba, Brazilian jazz, Latin jazz and música popular brasileira. Powell also composed many fine pieces for guitar, such as "Samba Triste", "Consolação" (both heard here), "Abração em Madrid", "Braziliense", "Canto de Ossanha", "Casa Velha", "Horizon", "Imagem", "Lotus", "Simplesmente", "Tristeza e solidão", and "Xangô". This release presents one of his best albums as a leader, Á Vontade (Elenco ME-11), which includes versions of such hits as "Garôta de Ipanema", "Berimbau" and the aforementioned "Samba triste".
