My Woman - 2016 US Jagjaguwar label 10-track CD

The 3rd studio album by St. Louis, Missouri, born and raised, tough and tender singer-songwriter and Will Oldham collaborator - recorded live to tape with a five-piece backing band at Vox Studios in Los Angeles.

'My Woman' expands Olsens 50'ies country influenced indie folk-rock palette towards a much wider expression - first side incorporating atmospheric, minimal electronics, grungy rock and a more pop-oriented songwriting, the other far less hectic, more low key, jazz influenced - ending in piano balladry.

Tom Hughes sums his review in the Guardian up with the words: "The most instant pleasures come from the fact that this is just a gorgeous-sounding record - the melodies are exquisite, the production airily pristine, and Olsen's singing often supernaturally beautiful."
