The AC/DC album »Ballbreaker« from 1995 was produced by Rick Rubin (Johnny Cash, Slayer, Red Hot Chili Peppers), who helped bring the band back to a more raw and stripped-down look. The recording process brought the band back to basics, focusing on live recordings and minimal overdubs, a hallmark of Rubin's production style.

Ballbreaker saw the return of drummer Phil Rudd, who had been away from the band since 1983. Rudd's return is often cited as a key factor in revitalizing the band's chemistry. Despite being released more than two decades into their career, the album is often hailed for its return to the band's rock roots and considered a strong late-career outing.
