Nuets Topografi - 2022 Danish Cloudland label 6-track LP

Can you make relevant contemporary art from clay? Of course you can, and Vessel comes up with a musical take on something similar on his fifth album, Nuets Topography.

As the album's title suggests, the unfathomable NOW is at the center of the music: the songs are something as old-fashioned as recorded LIVE in the studio, and they vibrate with presence and wide-awake interplay. Anders Mathiasen's deep Spanish guitar and calm vocals meet Rolf Hansen's electric guitar and Bjørn Heebøll's light drums in one condensed musical space, where every single nuance has weight and significance.
Vessel's songs are characterized by a rare concentration and patience.

The music is at the same time aware of tradition and curious, and contains an unobtrusive complexity that doesn't necessarily reveal itself at first listen. This time, not least lyrically, new possibilities of expression are explored. Vessel speaks
to his contemporaries, but links to a larger historical and artistic context than we do commonly encountered in Danish songwriting. It is the seriousness of death, but Vessel sees never black, and insists on light and poetry.

Live, Vessel appears as on the album, and will reproduce the music immediately elasticity and responsiveness. The music is subdued and detailed, with the lyrics in it
center, a twinkle in the eye and plenty of space for the listener. According to Politiken, Vessel's first album Enlettered Species was outstanding refinement of the folkloric heritage; illuminated by a personal fire.

About the fourth album Nyt Alfabet, Information's reviewer wrote that in Vessel's universe it seems that walking open and waiting for life to give birth to an unexpected bliss
