|Additional info||Original 1978 UK Arista label 10-track LP - their 16th album - like with the previous album 'Sleepwalker' a more hard arena rocking affair'... labeled "one of rock & roll's great mid-life crisis albums" by Allmusics Stephen Thomas Erlewine, who wrote "...a moving record that manages to convey deep emotions while rocking hard." - featuring the singles 'A Rock 'N' Roll Fantasy', 'Live Life and 'Black Messiah'.|
The UK issue - this one - contains a longer version of "Live Life" with an additional verse not included on the US LP.
Vinyl is manufactured with the black and silver-centre printed company labels with blue rimprint and upper 'A' logo & company name.
Vinyl has handetched (he) and machine stamped (ms) matrix information:
Side 1: SPART 1055 - A 2 (he) SPART 1055 A//5 MD (ms); father/ mother/ stamper: 1 1 2 (ms)
Side 2: SPART 1055 B1 (he) MASTERDISC (ms) sf (he) MD (ms); father/mother/stamper 1 1 1 (ms)
suggesting that this album was manufactured from a mastering supplied my the New York based Masterdisk - mastered by Sam Feldman - and subsequently pressed by the Phonodisc Ltd. pressing plant in Walthamstow/Chingford.
We have no simply idea which is the first Side 1 mastering on the one... the A-2(he)/A-5 (ms) is basically confusing... the Side 2 B-1 matrix suffix suggests the 1st mastering for Side 2. and the father/mother/stamper information on both sides hints at an extremely early stamper for Side 1, the 1st for Side 2.
Vinyl is accompanied by illustrated fold-out lyric insert - packaged in a fully laminated picture cover.
Condition: VG++ (Vinyl and labels)/M- (Insert)/VG+(+) (Cover):
Vinyl is beautifully shiny - has a touch of sleeve wear only - labels has a single or two barely noticeable spindletraces and a small Side 1 label edge imperfection.
Vinyl is overall graded close to perfect.
Insert is plain perfect.
Cover has perfect front and back centres and a very few lighter flaws along edges: a single marginal lower front edge and upper back spine wrinkle, a dent to upper back opening edge and upper spine corner... a touch of rubbing to corners... a couple of smaller areas of laminate lift at top and bottom back along spine... all in all a series of mostly marginal defects which are hardly noticeable and which has no effect on the viewing on the distorted cover artwork. Cover is graded close to near perfect/excellent.
