Additional infoRare original 1986 US SST label 9-track LP - New York noise-alt combos 3rd album - their first album with drummer Steve Shelley and a further step away from the more no wavish and experimental approach towards more structure - dissonance intact though.

Pitchfork Media wrote that this was '"... where the seeds of greatness were sown", and placed the album 31st on their Top 100 Albums of the 1980s list, alongside Sonic Youth's next two albums, Sister and Daydream Nation, which ranked 14th and first, respectively."*
Trouser Press labeled it "a near-masterpiece",and Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic gave it a 4.5-star review, writing that EVOL is "a stunningly fluent mixture of avant-garde instrumentation and subversions of rock & roll."*

Evol was recorded and co-produced with New York songwriter and producer Martin Bisi - known for recording edgy, frictious important records by Swans, John Zorn, Bill Laswell, Helmet, Unsane, Foetus a.o. - at his Before Christ Studio.

Vinyl has black printed, silver labels with top fat, capital lettering company name above title logo - complete with illustrated lyric insert - housed in a glossy picture cover.

Condition: VG++ (Vinyl and Labels)/M- (Inner Sleeve)/VG++ (Cover):
Vinyl is bright and shiny and has almost no signs of plkay or handling - a touch of sleeve wear and otherwise mint. Labels are perfect and vinyl remains near mint.
Inner sleeve is perfect, cover has a touch of edge wear and a minor mid-upper pressure point - graded straight near perfect as well - a very nice copy.
