|Additional info||Scarce 1981 US Ralph label 2-track LP - a reissue of beloved San Francisco avant-garde concept communes 1976 album "tribute to the thousands of little power-mad minds in the music industry who have helped make us what we are today, with an open eye on what we can make them tomorrow."* |
'The Third Reich 'n' Roll' features two side-long suites of destroyed, deconstructed, mangled, and satirically re-worked "'60's bubble-gum rock somehow twisted into shocking '70's bubble-gum avant-garde"*.
The explicit swastika art-work and use of Nazi references stopped the 'The Third Reich 'n' Roll' from being released in the 1970ies in Germany. In response to this Ralph Records and The Residents decided to manufacture 2500 copies with overly censored artwork for export to the German Marked - still the same cover artwork displaying a gestapo-uniformed show business giant, Dick Clark, holding a carrot, but with all swastikas and words 'Reich' are blocked out with white areas featuring the text 'Censored!'.
The red printed black labels on the album remained unaltered though, displaying the original top-label swastika logo artwork.
Condition: VG++ (Vinyl and Labels)/VG+(+) (Cover):
Vinyl is bright nand shiny - almost without signs of handling or play - just a touch of the very faintest sleeve wear - labels are mint.
Cover has a little top and botton front cover ringwear, but otherwise only minimal discontinued edge or corners rubbing/denting - overall graded close to near mint/excellent.
