|Additional info||1991 German pressed - European mainland distributed - Virgin label 11-track LP - an impro based one off by all ex-Japan members - their first studio collaboration since 1981's 'Tin Drum' - adding the guitar work of guitarists Michael Brook, Phil Palmer and Bill Nelson as well as .|
Trouser Press's Ira Robbins wrote that 'Rain Tree Crow' successfully revives the new wave quartets "late-period neo-tribal rhythms and vaguely Asian feel. Some of the looser instrumentals recall Sylvian's excesses in that realm, but the lovely "Blackwater" and "Cries and Whispers" inhabit ballad territory, while the oddly urgent neo-fusion of "Blackcrow Hits Shoe Shine City" breaks unfamiliar ground. Perfect for late-night ambience."
Allmusics Stephen Thomas Erlewine described the album as "... a mellower, new age-oriented version of Japan, Rain Tree Crow explores stark soundscapes that sound alternately beautiful and desolate."
Vinyl has the generic beige company labels with large 'Virgin' text across the label and grey company 'V' logo box at bottom label.
Vinyl is housed in an illustrated credits inner sleeve - ultimately in a glossy picture cover.
Condition: VG+(+) (Vinyl And Labels)/VG++ (Inner Sleeve)/VG+(+) (Cover):
Vinyl is bright and shiny - has a touch of far from audible sleeve inflicted wear - a touch too much for a near mint grading.
Labels has a single and two light, superficial and simple spindletraces placed close to the center hole - all in all suggesting that this copy was used directly from the paper inner sleeve - only played a very few times tops.
Inner sleeve is extremely nice - graded close to mint. Cover has a touch of wrinkling from edges - a very minor spine corner dent... hardly any wear to seams or corners otherwise... graded close to near mint/excellent - very nice.
